Jacob’s a Guest of Honor at P-Con! (Fort Worth, TX – September 19-21)

July 25, 2025 by hpholo Leave a Comment

TL;DR: Jacob’s gonna be a Guest of Honor at P-Con this September, along with David Weber, Sharon Rice-Weber, Daryl Mayfield, Cedar Sanderson, Wally Waltner, and Charles E. Gannon!

Hey, y’all! 😄 H.P. here!

This year’s a low con year for us as we focus on writing projects, but we’ve got one more coming up in September—and it’s extra exciting! 😁

P-Con

Fort Worth, TX – Holiday Inn DFW Airport South

September 19-21, 2025

GRAB YOUR P-CON TICKETS HERE!

See, Jacob’s one of the Guests of Honor at P-Con in Fort Worth, TX! 😄 I had an absolute blast as last year’s Literary Guest of Honor and am totally pumped that Jacob gets to join in on the fun.

(I suspect Artist Guest of Honor Cedar Sanderson took some inspiration from Jacob for the above convention art, but even if she didn’t, that’s my headcanon now. 😉)

But that’s not the only thing that’s cool about this year’s P-Con. Its leading Guest of Honor is David Weber himself, along with Sharon-Rice Weber! Plus, if you’ve listened to any of our audiobooks under our Edie Skye pen name, you’ll recognize the name Daryl Mayfield—and he’s also a special narrator guest! 😃

Basically, if you’ve enjoyed any of our stuff under any pen name or collaboration, P-Con’s the best place to be this year.

Rounding out the guest list is Wally Waltner as Wafflemaster and Charles E. Gannon as Science Wrangler!

Tickets are already available and the hotel is small, so if you want to stay on site, it’s better to reserve sooner rather than later.

GRAB A ROOM IN THE P-CON BLOCK HERE!

We look forward to seeing you there! 😁

Book Blast: Words of Power by Shami Stovall

July 22, 2025 by hpholo Leave a Comment

Hey, y’all! 😄 I have lots of cool author friends who write lots of cool books, and occasionally I like to show off those books.

Shami Stovall‘s back again with a progression fantasy epic that has big anime vibes. Basically, if you liked InuYasha and Berserk but thought they both needed a little Solo Leveling-style progression, Words of Power is your book!

Want to hear more? Here’s my interview with her about that book:

And here’s the book itself, out today!

READ WORDS OF POWER HERE

Words of Power

Words of Power #1

by Shami Stovall

***

A magic-fueled progression fantasy adventure from Dragon Award winning author Shami Stovall.

Power is not given. It’s taken.

In the Tze Empire, spirits and demons rule the wilds, but Ring Warlocks control civilization. For Rimon, the son of a courtesan and lowest in society, Ring Warlocks seem like gods.

Each has their own magic drawn from Titans, and they can do whatever they please, regardless of how it affects the prefectures they rule.

But when a chance encounter places one of the ancient and powerful rings in Rimon’s hands, everything changes. For there is a trick to the rings, and Rimon sees through the test given to him.

Suddenly, he is no longer a player at the fringes of power; he is a Ring Warlock and granted his own territory.

Determined to make sure his prefecture thrives, Rimon must contend with jealous rivals, demons seeking his ring for themselves, and forces he cannot yet name, all while mastering his new abilities. He will prove even the lowest can rise to challenge gods.

Rimon will have to grow twice as strong as his rival warlocks just to survive in this new Progression Fantasy Adventure by Shami Stovall, the Dragon-Award winning author of Knightmare Arcanist!

HEY, Y’ALL, and welcome to my re-branding of what used to be the rather clunkily named “Author Q&A (and Prizes!)”

Why the clunk? Well, I started that interview series on a whim because I have loads of author friends and like to chat with them, and figured readers would like to chat with them too, so I half-assed a title and slapped it on YouTube.

Then, as happens with fun things I half-ass … it became a success, people started calling me A Podcaster, and I needed something better than “Author Q&A (and Prizes)!” to call said podcast. (I still consider myself more “author with occasional delusions of podcaster-dom,” but the people have spoken.)

All that said, I combined a bunch of things I love about the works of the authors I interview, so—ta-da!—we have “MECHS, MAGIC, and MAYHEM: INTERVIEWS WITH SCI-FI AND FANTASY AUTHORS.”

Today’s guest is G. Scott Huggins, author of flintlock fantasy epic The Wishkiller Saga, which begins with A Cold and Mortal Spring, and of which DAVID WEBER HIMSELF said:

“I really, really like this book. A lot. If you want heroes, honor, dastardly villains, and an existential threat to all human life, all wrapped up in battles, bloodshed, assassinations, treason, and men and women prepared to die for honor, you will too.”

If that grabbed you, rejoice, ’cause we’ll be talking about the upcoming Book 2, War of the Shattered Moon … and giving away a signed copy!

War of the Shattered Moon

The Wishkiller Saga #2

by G. Scott Huggins

***

The war has come. From the soul of the Well, it sweeps across the plains and washes into the cities in a tide of green madmen and red blood.

While the Kingdom of Verlaen fights for its life against the deadly Lotus, Last Sword of the King Aethal Paaling seeks out Admiral Malcoor, the one man who may have faced the ancient foe and survived. His quest will confront him with Well-spawned weapons long-hidden from men, suspicion and betrayal among his own kin, and a conspiracy that reaches the very roots of the throne he is sworn to guard.

As the King despairs of holding his struggling realm together, Aethal and his allies discover a hellish cult taking root among the people of the Grain Sea. A cult that can transform the docile Leafeaters into berserker warriors. But even this may prove to be the least of Aethal’s worries, for even the Lotus cannot compete with the allure of the oldest addiction of man: Power.

In the midst of a war for humanity itself, Aethal comes face-to-face with the question of whether he will have to destroy his kingdom if he is to save anyone.

“The first new novel I’ve read in years that I haven’t wanted to put down.” ~ David Weber, author of the best selling Honor Harrington series

Challenges (Worlds of Honor #8) is up for pre-order!

July 9, 2025 by hpholo Leave a Comment

Hey, y’all! 😄 You know how our recent worst-kept secret is that Jacob’s going to be writing a trilogy of novels about Edward Saganami in David Weber’s Honorverse? Well, hark!

For, in Challenges: Tales From the Earliest Days of the Star Kingdom, edited by ✨ the amazing Thomas Pope ✨ and published by Baen Books, you get ✨ the short story that starts it all. ✨ (That’s Worlds of Honor #8, for those who are keeping up with the number of Honorverse anthologies.)

It hits November 4th, 2025, perfectly timed to give you an excuse to stay home and avoid holiday traffic, so if that is a thing that appeals to you, get to pre-ordering! 😁

Pre-ORDER CHALLENGES HERE

Challenges: Tales From the Earliest Days of the Star Kingdom

Worlds of Honor #8
Edited by Thomas Pope

Featuring original stories by David Weber, Jane Lindskold, Jacob Holo, Thomas Pope, Marisa Wolf, & Daniel Allen Butler

THE HOTTEST MILITARY SCIENCE FICTION SERIES OF ALL TIME CONTINUES WITH A COLLECTION OF TALES SET IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THE STAR KINGDOM OF DAVID WEBER’S NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING HONORVERSE

In Honor Harrington’s day, the Star Kingdom of Manticore is the wealthiest star nation on a per capita basis in the entire galaxy. It is home to magnificent cities. Its planets’ oceans and seas—and skies—are open to its people, yet they have maintained the beauty and the magnificence of their natural habitats.

But that was not always true. Pioneers, especially interstellar pioneers, must be tough, smart, and self-reliant, and the people who built the Star Kingdom knew that. They prepared carefully for their enormous voyage, incorporated every measure they could think of, and even so, their new worlds did their best to kill them all. They very nearly succeeded, as the Plague Years pushed the human interlopers to the very brink of survival, forcing them to grow and change in ways they never could have anticipated.

In the process, they became the people who could one day produce Honor Harrington, Elizabeth Winton, and the remarkable people willing to stand in the path of the People’s Republic of Haven’s insatiable advance . . . and then to ally with the Republic, when both of them learned who their true enemy was. In many ways, that fortitude was the inevitable result of a star nation that learned early on that what truly matters is the way one faces the challenges the universe throws at one. These are the stories of people who learned that lesson, and met—and triumphed—over every challenge of their new homes.

Dancing with Destruction is out today from Baen Books!

July 1, 2025 by hpholo Leave a Comment

Surprise! We’ve got a new short story out, this time in a sci-fi anthology! 😄

Dancing with Destruction comes from Editor Jason Cordova at Baen Books, and has a super fun origin story.

Basically, cover art was commissioned for another of Baen‘s books … but the resulting illustration ended up not fitting the vibe the publisher was looking for.

However, it was still a kickass piece of art.

So, Jason presented this art to a handful of authors – ourselves included – and said, “Hey, want to write a short story for an anthology based on this cover?” 😀

Jacob saw this art and immediately said “HECK YES! I already have the perfect Sol Blazers story in mind.” But then he looked at his packed writing schedule. 😬 Then he looked to me and said, “What if we make this a Jacob Holo + Edie Skye collaboration?” 😏

Thus we get “The Joy of the Chase,” an adventure in Jacob’s Sol Blazers universe wherein our underpaid heroes take a simple missing persons job on a deserted jungle habitat … and find it not so deserted at all. In fact, it’s a whole lot hotter than expected. 😈

Also, if you weren’t aware of my love for over-the-top 80s action movies, you will be after this short. Yes, I watched Predator for research. Yes, Jacob had to cut plenty of 80s action movie references, and YES, Jason cut more. 🤣

(This is not the version where Nathan + Aiko chase an acid-bleeding monster through simulated vents made of interwoven jungle branches, but I assure you, it’s still cool.)

GRAB IT On AMAZON

GRAB IT On BOOKSHOP

Also, if you have no idea what Sol Blazers is, go check it out! It’s basically adventure space opera for people who are mad that Firefly never got a second season, with catgirls, sassy androids, and maybe a lil’ mild cosmic horror. 🤣

Kailey Jackson never wanted to be a fighter.

All she’d wanted out of life was to be normal. To fit in with Humans after being raised by Kitsoonay, to master the Asur language, to discover their hidden outposts… and to maybe solve the mystery of their disappearance.

But after her academic ambitions resulted in the invasion of her homeworld, Kailey’s quiet life spiraled into one disastrous adventure after another. She became a mercenary, embraced her Kitsoonay soul, and found a new family. A family she would do anything to protect—including bonding with the last Asur Warbird.

With Kailey’s fate irrevocably tied to the Warbird, finding the Asur is no longer an academic pursuit. It’s her only hope for survival. But the Knights aren’t the only ones searching for the Asur, and Kailey will have to risk everything she’s fought for—her old home, her found family, her new life—in order to save the Asur from their ancient enemy.

And maybe save herself one last time.

Monster Girl Tamer #2 is up for pre-order!

June 18, 2025 by hpholo 1 Comment

Hey, y’all! 😄 These days, it’s not often that I write under my H.P. Holo pen name, largely buried in writing as the surprise best-seller my spicy Edie Skye pen name became.

Titan Mage Book Cover

However, as I was writing Titan Mage, my first series under that name, a funny thing happened: Readers started asking for a monster girl series, and on my H.P. Holo pen name, I’d already written Monster Punk Horizon …

All that combined to result in Monster Girl Tamer #1: I Power Up with Every Monster Girl I Defeat!

Read Monster Girl Tamer #1 HERE!

And now series-finisher Monster Girl Tamer #2: I’m an Isekai Hero! Of Course I’m Fighting a Demon Lord is finally up for pre-order!

PRe-ORDER Monster Girl Tamer #2 HERE!

I’m an Isekai Hero!

Of Course I’m Fighting a Demon Lord

Monster Girl Tamer #2
by Edie Skye & H.P. Holo

A thicc cowgirl with a thicker accent. A bookish succubus with an absurd secret. A demon, goblin, and oni girl who’re as chaotic as they are good.

And they’re going to defeat a demon lord … how?

It’s been three months since Axel Hunter Radcliff fell through a magic portal into another world of dangerous monsters.

Hailing from a family of Chosen Ones, he’s trained his whole life to be a hero. He just didn’t expect destiny to involve taming monster girls into semi-civilized adventurers. Or training them to form his tactical harem.

Or their giant robots. Or their conspicuous anime tropes. Or the geeky succubus “Sexy Wizard” who transformed them in the first place.

When a new minotaur girl shows up at his hot spring, he realizes the Sexy Wizard needs his help, too. She’s been captured by some of her own creations—but this time there’s a twist. These dragon ladies used to be two of his monster hunting friends, Jaz and Pix.

With all the isekai tropes tied up in his destiny, Axel expected a demon lord. What he didn’t expect was Demon Lord Jaspartina “Jaz” Red and her Demon Lord General Tailer “Pix” Weaver!

And, after a mere three months, he doesn’t have the stats to face his final boss.

Fortunately, his magic power grows with his romantic bonds. And he has a whole harem of devoted monster girls eager to help raise his stats.

WARNING: Monster Girl Tamer is a fun isekai LitRPG fantasy action adventure where the hero saves the day and gets all the girls. (So don’t read it and then complain about the spice. Y’all know exactly what you’re getting into.)

Spice level differences aside, this series continues the same redonkulous monster-hunting hijinks you know and love from Monster Punk Horizon (and the spicy scenes are largely skippable, for those who don’t enjoy that kind of content 😊).

Whatever your taste, I hope you enjoy it! 😄
